筆記型電腦英文怎麼稱呼？

Definition:

Laptop - a portable, usu. battery-powered microcomputer small enough to rest on the user's lap. [3]

Notebook - a small, lightweight laptop computer measuring approximately 8 1/2 × 11 in. (22 × 28 cm). [3]

Detailed history of definition:

While the terms laptop and notebook are often used interchangeably, "laptop" is the older term、introduced in 1983 with the Gavilan SC. usually weighing from two to six pounds (one to three kilograms)、depending on size、materials and other factors. [1]

"Notebook computer" is a later coinage、which was used to differentiate smaller devices such as those of the NEC UltraLite and Compaq LTE series in 1989, which were, in contrast to previous laptops, the approximate size of an A4 paper sheet,[1]
typically weigh less than 6 pounds and are small enough to fit easily in a briefcase.[2]

簡而言之：
Laptop:
要夠小可以放在腿上, 大於2到3公斤, 是在1983年出現的定義。

Notebook:
約A4紙張大小(22 × 28 cm), 重量少於6磅, 之後爲了更小的產品而在1989年出現的定義。


在英語系國家交談時, 只要對象是在科技業服務,
還滿少遇過弄錯Laptop與Notebook的分別的。
((也只是自由心証，看到比較輕比較小的就隨口叫Notebook。沒什麼專業可言... ))

如果有個在科技業服務的外國人跟你講說他買了個"Notebook"...
那八九不離十是個比較小台的，如果講Laptop... 大都是還滿大台的。
大部分會混淆的一般非科技專科或是英語非第一語言居多。

編輯: "桌機"真的聽起來比較像是中國大陸同胞對桌上型電腦的簡稱...
因為"筆電"大家都知道是"筆記型電腦"，
但是"桌機"是什麼簡稱呢? 桌上機? 桌上型機器？
其實是"桌上型計算機" ((Computer的官方翻譯是"計算機" ))
但是聽起來似乎不是台灣人會用的中文。
